Supporting children in reading for pleasure is considered to be extremely important for their healthy development (UCL, 2025; Stanford Children’s Health, 2025).
Confidence, spoken English, and comprehension skills are enhanced as we read together and discuss characters, plots, and literary skills in depth. Book clubs encourage children to connect with a friend while developing their confidence, communication, comprehension, and reading skills.
According to extensive scientific research, reading in childhood has been strongly correlated with healthy cognitive brain development, wellbeing and positive mental-health (The Literacy Trust, 2025; Yale University, 2025).
